The bold and the beautiful

I spent most of this winter in my favorite red coat. I love the way it fits — it’s a-line and has big gold buttons (I wish I could find a good picture of it). The problem is every time I wore it I got some comment from someone about looking like a nutcracker, Mrs. Claus or Sgt. Pepper….grrr.  Fortunately, The Neo-Traditionalist has pointed out that it’s bold and chic to rock such a bright colored coat. Thank goodness someone can’t put all those people in their place!

Monday, you win

rain on the london eye

It’s rainy, dark and Monday. If I said I had zero motivation to get out of bed and be productive today that would be an understatement. And on top of wanting to hide away until the sun comes back I am lacking in the inspiration department, hardcore. Monday: 1, Leah: 0.

Countdown to spring

Petite Romance Set- Back Ordered! Ships 2/7!

The groundhog didn’t it’s shadow yesterday so apparently we are on our way to spring. In an effort to pull myself out of my snowy doldrums, I decided to do a little spring shopping. I may wear this EmersonMade scalloped bra top exactly as shown (I’m not one for midriff) but I could definitely get around the idea of wearing it under an over sized tank and some jeans! Plus the little tap shorts are adorable!

Under my umbrella, ella

I am probably the only smiling New Yorker on the streets today and that’s because I can finally use my new umbrella that I got as a belated birthday gift. I wrote about wanting a clear umbrella a while back, and now I finally have one, and now it’s finally raining! Splash in some puddles, it’s already Wednesday!

If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!

If there is going to be this much snow I need to either start getting work snow days and therefore the ability to stay home and in bed, or I need to get myself up to our cabin in the woods (in Beckett, MA) and get snowed in there! Great plan indeed!

News flash

In case you haven’t looked outside yet, it’s snowing…again. Enough said!

Here are some pictures from last week’s snow. I put them together for an Unravelling assignment.

Sunshine in the wintertime

I am starting to feel pangs of seasonal affect, feeling a bit lethargic and blue about the temperature as of late, and the lack of sun. I’ve decided it’s time to start planning a trip. I read somewhere that planning a trip, even if you have no idea when you will be able to go, releases endorphins (and other cool chemicals) into your brain because it’s a bit like problem solving and putting a puzzle together. My first inclination is that it definitely needs sea views and this amazing Cornwall estate, a Beach Studios property, looks PERFECT!

Snow like whoa

I spent most of the day yesterday in my apartment staring out the window at all the snow (and random flashes of lightning) — I love how pretty the city looks when the snow is fresh. Now it’s turning grey and slushy, but it was nice while it lasted!

Rain rain go away

It’s raining in New York and I don’t know about you but I am not happy about dragging my rain boots out and trying to find a suitable outfit to go with knee high rubber boots!

But if April showers bring May flowers, do May showers bring June super powers?! (Sorry, not a ton rhymes with flowers and showers!)

I decided a needed a few items to seamlessly transition my wardrobe from winter to spring and summer. Over the years I have noticed how difficult this transition can be without a some key pieces. Instead of spring cleaning, I did some UrbanOutfitters.com spring shopping!

(From left to right)

1. BDG Knit Pant (Perfect for my no pants rule, cool nights and a comfy, but more put together look. And for those days when leggings really shouldn’t be considered pants!)

2. Truly Madly Deeply French Terry Scoop Neck Tunic (A cute little dress or a perfect layering piece that is comfy and cozy)

3. byCORPUS Epaulet Chiffon Blouse (Hitting all the high notes: animal prints, see-thru and a versatile mens-wear inspired top)

4. UO Straw Riding Cap (I love hats and don’t have anything that is summer appropriate. This could be the start of a beautiful relationship)

5. Urban Renewal Strappy Ruffle Jumper (I love onesies of all shapes and sizes and this could be cute alone, with thigh highs or with tights. Also a cute bathing suit cover-up)

6. Kimchi Blue Lace Back French Terry Pullover (I love simple pieces with fun surprises and with the lace in the back it’s like this is a mullet sweatshirt: business in the front, party in the back!)
