I am totally a hat person any time of year but winter hats are not only a statement but an essential during New York City winters. Instead of your run of the mill beanies and berets, I really like the idea of these more classic fedoras and dunaway hats. Especially this one from Urban Outfitters, which is going to be on it’s way to my house very soon!

It’s bedtime

via camp comfort

All I’ve wanted to do after I’ve showered and gotten dressed the past few mornings is get back in bed. I’m not sure if it’s daylight savings or what but it seems I am just pooped all the time. I am seriously hoping for down time this weekend — and how cozy does this lounge outfit look? It’s perfect for me because my feet and arms always get cold, but my legs are like hot stick! I couldn’t have said it better Roberta, ”there is…something so blissful and comforting about cuddling up indoors in the cooler months.”

Bundling up

It’s that time of the year where I get antsy to switch my closet over from warm weather clothes to sweaters and to find the perfect winter coat. For the past few years I have gone with wool coats (mostly from J.Crew, like this) in bright colors that cheer me up and stand out from the crowd. While I still love that look I think it might be time to try something new. I have been looking at anoraks, parkas and puffy coats (or whatever they are all called) but the jury is still out. If I had to decide right now though, these three would be the ones to choose from.

Pumpkin spice latte weather

via my heart beats for vogue

Now that it’s in the 60′s it’s time for pumpkin spice lattes and major layering. Now if only it would go down a few more degrees adding a final furry layer would be just what the doctor ordered. I can’t wait! Stay warm!

Hide and conceal

Since the summer came so quickly I am hardly ready for shorts and mini skirts — let’s just say denim and alabaster legs isn’t really a good look for me. Not to mention I seem to have attracted all the mosquitoes in the city and now have huge welt sized bites all over my legs, and feet! So in an effort to hide my legs, when I am not trying to tan them, I am relying heavily on my maxi skirts, dresses, full pants and long onesies to keep me cool and concealed.

Park it

The long weekend is within spitting distance now and even though I chose to stay here I am kind of wishing someone would knock on my door with a trip to my dream hotel, the Parker Palm Springs. It’s obvious by now that I love the work of Jonathan Adler (displayed here and here), but more importantly at this point in time I love the idea of sun, consistent sun that is, heat and a big beautiful pool. If I end up disappearing you know where I am!

Go away

via we heart it

It’s another gray and rainy day in New York City and I am lacking in all things motivation and inspiration. I do love the sound of rain hitting my windows and air conditioner, but all this dreary weather is really getting old!

PS: I might just be extra cranky because I have to trek around today rather than staying inside under cozy blankets!

Silky smooth

Regardless of weather I’ve never been able to sleep without some kind of blanket on top of me (I’ve tried just a top sheet but it doesn’t work). The problem is that I live in a building that controls the AC and when the weather starts to get warm and the heat is on my normal duvet is just too heavy. So, I’ve decided the combat the issue by buying not only a light quilt, but a silky, satin-y, smooth one that will hopefully retain some coolness from my overhead fan (think cold side of the pillow)!

Wide open spaces

I woke up wishing I could walk from my bedroom into an airy living room/kitchen where I could make myself a cup of coffee and wander onto a sunlit porch where I could spend the day doing absolutely nothing. It’s partly because I am itching for spring to come, and stay for good, but mostly because I love being outdoors, enjoying the sun and breathing fresh, warm air. Fingers crossed that a change in weather is right around the corner — if not it might be a weekend getaway to some fabulous house on beach!

Summertime blues

It doesn’t even feel even remotely like spring but I am already thinking about summer. I have a few bikinis that I love and even purchased this gorgeous J.Crew suit back in November, but I am always on the look out for cute one pieces because I always manage to sunburn my stomach and I think it’s just a fun change of pace. This Marc by Marc Jacobs ruffle suit is definitely on the top of my list. I love the ruffle detail and that it goes from the front all the way around to the back. Maybe if I buy it now summer will come sooner…!?
