Rain rain go away

piggy

It’s raining in New York and I don’t know about you but I am not happy about dragging my rain boots out and trying to find a suitable outfit to go with knee high rubber boots!

But if April showers bring May flowers, do May showers bring June super powers?! (Sorry, not a ton rhymes with flowers and showers!)

Special delivery

I decided a needed a few items to seamlessly transition my wardrobe from winter to spring and summer. Over the years I have noticed how difficult this transition can be without a some key pieces. Instead of spring cleaning, I did some UrbanOutfitters.com spring shopping!

(From left to right)

1. BDG Knit Pant (Perfect for my no pants rule, cool nights and a comfy, but more put together look. And for those days when leggings really shouldn’t be considered pants!)

2. Truly Madly Deeply French Terry Scoop Neck Tunic (A cute little dress or a perfect layering piece that is comfy and cozy)

3. byCORPUS Epaulet Chiffon Blouse (Hitting all the high notes: animal prints, see-thru and a versatile mens-wear inspired top)

4. UO Straw Riding Cap (I love hats and don’t have anything that is summer appropriate. This could be the start of a beautiful relationship)

5. Urban Renewal Strappy Ruffle Jumper (I love onesies of all shapes and sizes and this could be cute alone, with thigh highs or with tights. Also a cute bathing suit cover-up)

6. Kimchi Blue Lace Back French Terry Pullover (I love simple pieces with fun surprises and with the lace in the back it’s like this is a mullet sweatshirt: business in the front, party in the back!)

I was really sick over the weekend. Not to mention being very sick of all the rain we had. But today, not only did my fever break, but the weather decided to cheer up a bit and now it’s a sunny and beautiful day here in NYC. As it seems, spring is quickly approaching and I am starting to make bets on what will be my standby favorite shoes. The oxfords are not only trendy but they are comfortable and still a bit more dressy than your average ballet flat. As for my resolution to wear heels these Sweet Life by Dolce Vita booties will definitely fit the bill. They look adorable with bare feet but also look great with a pair of light tights for those chilly spring nights.

Spring WAS in the air

Yesterday we all got a first glimpse that spring is just around the corner. Today, however, we are back to the slushy, rainy, yucky stuff and I am feel very annoyed with Mother Nature. In an effort to brighten up this gray day I am channeling all the beauty of spring and researching the rain dance equivalent of calling spring to come sooner rather than later!

Say no to Uggs

Picture 6
With the on-again-off-again rain/snow/sleet/ice of the past few weeks, the footwear decision has become increasingly tricky. I admit I have Uggs, and on occasion still wear them to run across the street to Duane Reade or the corner store, but NEVER would I wear them out as the finishing touch to my outfit. They are as ugly as they are comfortable — they are not at all suitable for the workplace, or really any place off a college campus. Instead of going for the fuzzy, odd colored, poorly weathered, shearlings, I believe any of the choices above are suitable and fashionable alternatives to keep your tootsies warm.  I have been wearing a combination of my red lace up hunter boots and my JCrew Bromley Duck boots (mine are green/cream herringbone).
