Heart and sole

via bloomingdales
Spring is upon us and hopefully summer is right around the corner which means it’s time to stock up on chunky heeled sandals for work and for play. This round up shows some of the colors and textures I am hoping to find to make the seamless transition from work to evening outdoor cocktails.

Black bettys

via shopping.yahoo
I have had one go-to pair of black boots since college (which is longer than I would like to admit to myself) and it’s not for lack of trying to find a replacement. As much as I love the idea of a big chunky biker boot from Frye, I just could never bring myself to actually buy them because I just don’t think they are as practical as something a bit slimmer and sleeker. And because when I am looking for something slim and sleek I despise buckles and chains and zippers and all that crap that makes them look cheap I’ve had a very tough time finding something that is just right. That is until I found these Corso Como boots. I think all the boxes are checked with these, sleek, slim, understated but still sturdy enough to make an impression. SOLD!

A little polka

via lifes a journal
These DIY polka dot flats are so simple but still so chic and adorable. I love that pointy-toe flats are back in fashion and I really like having a fun, playful shoe with more streamline work outfits. If I end up doing this I think I’d do a much brighter dot — think highlighter green!

Oldie but goodie

via daily mail, people, its not for girls
I had a pair of black high-top Converse sneakers when I was in about third grade and have own at least one pair of Converse, mostly the low-top, ever since. They are comfortable, classic and can add just the right amount of casual coolness! Lately I have been thinking about ways to make that look even cooler, and I think some high tops might do the trick! I love the looks on these ladies!

Puddle jumpers

via jcrew
I have always loved wellies, and own more pairs than one person should, but they can get really hot and be a lot to carry around for those summer days where its rainy in the morning and clear by night or vice versa. Here’s the perfect solution…rubber flats! As usual J.Crew has created the answer to my prayers with this pretty bow ballet flat perfect for rainy days or any day I need a cheery pair of flats!

Sneaking around

via supergas
I always like to have a pair of cute, go to sneakers for the summer in case of rain, anĀ impromptu game outside or long walks in the city. Last year it was a pair of Benisom sneakers and the year before, a simple pair of chucks, so obviously this year I am in need of a new pair and I think a pair of classic Supergas sneaks may be the perfect solution. They’re comfortable, light and inexpensive enough that after a summer of unscheduled rain showers and mud puddles, I can get rid of them without guilt!

Run like the wind

via new balance
After hearing that my friend (my friend who is close to 20 years older than me) lost 25 lbs and runs on average 9 miles a day, I decided it was time I learned how to run. I know that sounds silly, but I have never liked to run and a runner finally told me it might be because I was never trained to run properly. Long story short, now I am doing Couch to 5K and am excited to know when I finish I should be able to run for more than 3 or 4 minutes…yes, minutes! So now that I’m a professional, I need to look like one too and these New Balance sneakers are calling my name! When I zoom past all anyone will be able to see is the flash of my bright kicks!

Tory Botch?

via refinery29
I am seriously on the fence about this mid-height Tory Burch heel. Don’t get me wrong, I love when you can add a little height without feeling like you’re walking on stilts but I think this would make me look really funny (think a combination of old, dowdy and stumpy). But then again maybe R29 is right when they say these shoes, “add a dash of ladylike elegance (not to mention comfort)”…The verdict is still out.

Neon and nude

via ann taylor
I walk by an Ann Taylor store almost every day on the way to and fromwork. I have been in a few times, and believe I even used to own a pair of yellow A.T. jeans…But these days I am often conflicted about buying things because while some items really hit the mark, others seem to be a Chico’s-inspired disaster! One thing I’m not confused about though are these amazing neon pointy toe flats. I think they’re awesome. Nude so they can be worn with just about everything. Neon to add a punch of color. And the pointy toe gives the shoe a dressier feel than my day-to-day ballet flats. Well done Ann!
