Forever21 hat and ring, HungChains eyeglass chain turned necklace, Vintage lumberjack shirt

I celebrated the new year with the lovely and talented Ms. Elizabeth Baxter about a week before the actual day, when we had some free time to get together (Liz and I manage to have absolutely opposite schedules). On our hot date, dinner at The Bourgeois Pig and drinks at my local pub (I am sipping on a delicious Magners Cider in the picture above), I decided to wear as many newly purchased, and gifted, items as possible. It’s always so fun to get dressed up and decked out in new gear. With my birthday right around the corner (January 13th is next Wednesday ladies and gentlemen) I look forward to more nights of bejeweled decadence and merriment!

(Note: Please excuse the insane red eye!)

Models are made of plastic

I was privileged to see the amazing mannequins of Adel Rootstein during their most recent showing at their NYC gallery. Just like my first time seeing these magnificent works of art, I was completely blown me away. The intricate detail and beauty in these mannequins is hard to describe.

(Thank you Leonard Wiltshire, my fashion mentor, for the pictures)

I learned about Adel and her amazing mannequins during a visual merchandising class in college. For those of you who don’t know much this industry may need some background:

“Continuing Adel Rootstein‘s philosophy of constant innovation and boundless creativity, we at Rootstein create mannequins which embrace and translate the spirit of fashion for a commercial audience, providing the key visual merchandising tools for truly inspirational visual theatre.”

Girl crush

My name is Leah and I love the Olsen twins. The first step is admitting you have a problem, right? Regardless of the girls’ love for hobo/heroin addict/crack whore chic fashions, I have been obsessed since their days on Full House and all of the “You’re invited to Mary-Kate and Ashley’s…” videos.

This Marie Clare photo shoot with Ashley is absolutely gorgeous, it is pure perfection. The sense of warmth in the styling in all three scenes is just superb and she looks incredible! These photos represent everything I think sexy should be: simple, easy, clean and comfortable.

Hanukkah cheer

Happy Hanukkah!

white_square_with_hydrangea

I have been looking for a way to make my apartment more festive for the holidays, but I obviously don’t want anything too Christmas-y. There are no such things as Hanukkah wreaths, trees or bushes, and generally all Hanukkah decorations are pretty ugly. I decided blue hydrangea are very holiday appropriate and there is something about bunches of hydrangea that remind me of the winter, snow and the cold!

On the 4th day of Hanukkah

My Hanukkah dreams came true this year! The one gift I asked my family and friends for were matching hangers. (I have had this desire to have everything in my closet hung on the same hangers, for years!) This Hanukkah I got hundreds (literally) of these slim, velvety, black hangers and love how they look!

Queen of wishful thinking

While I would gladly accept any (read all) of the gifts below, I think these are great gift ideas for the special people in your life!

Picture 5

(from left to right)

1. Pencil Chopsticks at MOMA: Food is such a creative outlet, and pencil chopsticks give you a chance to quickly jot down any mealtime inspirations

2. UO 3D Chandelier: Everyone can always use a little more light. This chandelier is functional and nontraditional

3. Amazon Kindle: Perfect for the ADD reader who reads multiple books at once. The kindle makes life much lighter than carrying around the whole library

4. Calendar Bracelet by Dalla Nonna: A perfect mix of leather and metal. This bracelet is an easy way to count down to the big day

5. Ren ring by Japanese jeweler Yuki Kamia: Two-finger rings make for a great piece of statement jewelery. I love the fluidity. It’s definitely not your average “Lauren Conrad” ring

6. Jonathan Adler Needlepoint Pillows: Take a vacation while you rest your head on fun getaway pillows

7. Picture Frame Vinyl Decals: Show your support for the vendors and artists on Etsy. This would help any who is ‘hanging challenged’, like me

8. Ashish for Topshop Leopard Wedges: Jungle fever in freezing weather is a great way to add to a look and keep your feet warm (Jeffrey Campbell for LF wedge booties would work too!)

She bangs!

I used to be all about the swoopy bangs but back in May I decided to change things up for some straight ones. They have since grown out and now I am deciding whether or not to go back. My bestest, Liz, has great bangs! Liz is like my “Hairy” godmother (she’s not hairy, but she has the best hair in the whole world — people actually stop her to tell her that…all the time!) If my straight bangs could look like hers, and they always look flawless like this, I would go back without a second thought!

Wishing for a winter wonderland

It’s starting to get cold and I have to admit I am excited. Cold weather means big cozy sweaters, mugs of hot chocolate, fuzzy socks to keep your toes toasty and lots of layers. And the only thing better than just cold, windy weather is snow!

Maybe I can persuade Mother Nature, or Jack Frost, or whoever is in change of the cool weather, to bring on the snow!

Illusions of grandeur

Two things that never cease to inspire me to dream and fantasize about the future — the great outdoors and great art.

Boycotting Pants

I am considering giving up pants all together because I am so in love with tights! I have been wearing tights a lot lately and not just my favorite black  opaque all purpose pairs, but I have been throwing in bright red ones to add some flair to simple outfits (all thanks to Joanna Goddard‘s amazing post on red tights on ExperienceParisienne.com).

The brighter the color the better. Tights are just the best way to add a pop of color, stay warm and be fabulous! I also love the idea of matching my tights to my shoes!

I have been wearing tights with skirts and dresses, but also really loving the jean shorts and tights look, as seen on Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere.
