I don’t change up my look very often, I like my go-to nail polishes and I never thought I looked very good in lipstick. But lately, with my skin super pale, and the temperature shifting from 30s to 50s, red lips seem to perk me up. I tried Essie Ups at the nail place and I love it, it’s deep enough to be winter appropriate but its not to wine-y or dark. I have also been wearing Revlon Love That Red lipstick — I think I pull it off pretty well!

I just learned about e.l.f. (eyes, lips, face) Makeup & Cosmetics and for someone who isn’t really into makeup, I’m extremely tempted to buy some things and start experimenting. Where else are you going to find cream eyeliner (and brush) for $3.00 and moisture rich lipstick for $1.00?

After years of hearing from my best friend about the magic behind Bare Minerals cosmetics, I decided a few weeks ago that I had to try it for myself. Lo and behold the makeup really is pretty amazing and whether it’s the minerals or my new cleansing regiment (or a combination of the two) my face has been looking better than ever. My criteria for good makeup? Most importantly it has to cover well and evenly and spot treat impeccably. Only followed by the need for it to be light and breathable. Bare Minerals does all of that and I would actually recommend trying out the starter kit!

Lipstick has always been something I have steered away from. But last spring I found NARS Love Devotion and I wear it all the time. The problem is it’s super sheer so it doesn’t even really count as lipstick. So during my last trip to Duane Reade I bit the bullet and picked up a bright lipstick that reminded me of all the brightly colored lips I’ve seen lately (like this and this). Revlon’s Love That Pink ended up being the perfect choice. It’s not so bright that I can’t start wearing it now but it’s also not so sheer that it looks like gloss. Basically doesn’t make me feel like I’m wearing clown makeup but it definitely makes me smile!

I don’t wear much makeup. It’s a combination of being fairly low maintenance and a total dud when it comes to actually applying it. I must have missed the makeup and hair days at school because I just don’t have the same knowledge as other people. Over the years though I have created a somewhat decent look and these are the products that I use to do that.
Benefit | Erase paste
It covers dark circles better than anything I’ve ever tried
Make up forever | HD invisible cover concealer
Perfect for covering little blemishes and has a great silicon tip
Covergirl | Classic color blush
An old classic which I prefer in Rose Silk
Benefit | Lemon aid
Great for brightening up tired eyes with a bit in each corner
Make up forever | Aqua eyeliner
This has to be one of the first eyeliners I’ve used that doesn’t smudge
Nars | Lipstick
Love devotion is a perfectly light coral lipstick that looks good all year round
Chapstick | Moisturizer
There is probably one of these in every single on of my purses
Kiehl’s | Ultra facial cream
Especially in the winter I need something that has a ton of moisture but is still gentle
Garnier Nutritioniste | Oil-free wet cleansing towelettes
With very little effort these can take off anything
Kiehl’s | Line reducing eye brightening concentrate
I use a tiny bit every night and see brighter eyes in the morning
