I have had a really awesome J.Crew navy suit with green pinstripes in my closet for the last 6 years, easily, and while I wear the blazer all the time, the pants have just never really done it for me. I have been thinking a lot lately about how I can tailor the pants to create a suit that feels like stuffy and more me. The decision right now is between a slim fit cigarette or capri length pant or creating a very trendy and modern pants suit (nothing too short though). I need to throw the pants on and see how the options look and then just go for it — otherwise those pants are just going to be collecting dust for another 6 years!

The search for the perfect white tank seems to be harder than almost any other fashion related search. This summer I am determined to find a white tank that is light, loose without being too baggy, timeless and I vow to keep it clean and pristine with bleach!

There was a deluge on my way to work this morning and while I love my parka, it just didn’t do what I needed it to do. So in an effort to avoid ever having the spend the first 2 hours of work soaking wet, I found and fell in love with the rain cape. Chic and easy, perfect for a rainy morning or as an extra layer for unexpected spring showers.

One of the few celebrity events I still anticipate and excitedly wait for pictures is the annual Met Gala in all it’s themed glory. This year there was a punk theme which I was not really looking forward to, not many evening gowns have safety pins and holes, but I was pleasantly surprised. A few of my favorites:
Rose Huntington-Whiteley – Gucci
John Krasinski and Emily Blunt (most adorable couple) – Carolina Herrera
Minka Kelly
Dakota Fanning – Rodarte
Emma Roberts – Diane Von Furstenberg
Sarah Jessica Parker – Giles Deacon (Philip Treacy hat)
Renee Zellweger – Prada
Cameron Diaz – Stella McCartney

I am all about layering, especially due to the fact that my office temperature ranges anywhere from see-your-breath frigid to sweat-your-eyebrows-off sweltering — so in the winter it requires some serious laying mathematics. I love this look with the oxford, chambray and cardigan, it’s very me, yet still office and even client appropriate. Plus I love leopard loafers with patterned pants!

Fall has definitely come to NYC and some days it has felt cold enough to believe that winter is really right around the corner. So in an effort to enjoy the little bit of fall that we will inevitably have, I have been wearing vests, all the time! Rather than going and pulling out all my warmer jackets, vests keep me warm, allow me to layer (which is key for work where it could be 30 degrees in the office of 80) and I still feel like I look cute. I have been wearing my favorite J.Crew puffy black vest from years ago but I love the idea of a bright color or interesting print.

It has been raining off and on for the last few days, and putting me in anything but a good mood. Only thing I can think of at this point that would cheer me up would be a bright yellow slicker, my hunter boots and some major puddles.

I am a self proclaimed Anglophile but this has nothing to do with London other than it being the home of the Olympics this year. I am a nut when it comes to the Olympics (here and here), even though I prefer the winter games, and while if I don’t have a ton of national pride I love these Gap t-shirts (that I originally found on R29) to show my support of the games!

I have been on the lookout for some comfy, oversized, “boyfriend” shorts forever and I am still at a loss. Everything I try is either too short and tight or too oversized and baggy to the point that no top would ever look good with them. This is the total look I am trying to achieve and I don’t understand why it is so hard! I finally found a pair of perfect boyfriend jeans (At Forever21 no less so they were very cheap!!) so I thought I was on the right track but no such luck!
