Punky power

via listal

I have an awesome 80′s theme party coming up and I’m going as the incredible Punky Brewster. I have the jeans, bandana and crazy hi-top creative recreation sneakers but what I really need is bangs. Punky had killer chunky straight bangs — she was so before her time. Thanks to good old Jessica Simpson, I think some clip-on bangs may do the trick!

I am totally a hat person any time of year but winter hats are not only a statement but an essential during New York City winters. Instead of your run of the mill beanies and berets, I really like the idea of these more classic fedoras and dunaway hats. Especially this one from Urban Outfitters, which is going to be on it’s way to my house very soon!

Choose your own fashion adventure

I love the new Longchamp campaign video for the Balzane bag. I think it’s a great mix between a choose your own adventure book and a high-end photo shoot. There’s even a cameo by one of my favorite bloggers Rumi. It makes me want to book a flight to Paris and rent a motorcycle — tres chic!

In the dark

I started sleeping with an eye mask and it actually really helps me sleep more soundly and for longer in the morning when my room gets bright. I’ve been wearing a simple $6 mask from Ricky’s but now that I’m convinced it works I’m ready to make the investment and buy one I really like.

These are some of my favorites:
Michael Jackson
Panda Eyes
Classic Chanel

Packing heat

My trainer wasn’t too happy when he found out I was lugging around my laptop and other essential work tools in an oversized tote slung over one arm…Especially when I demonstrated the angle at which I have to tilt at the waist to balance the weight of the bag! His suggestion was getting a backpack which makes sense but my brain always goes to the big L.L.Bean backpackI had in elementary school and I can’t seem to be able to envision a chic alternative. But lo and behold, and hail Opening Ceremony, I’ve found just that — Steve Mono’s Nicholas school briefcase. It’s a great mix of structure, function and style.

Twisted

I found Twistbands in a store in Chicago earlier this year and have been wearing one ever since. Apparently they can be anything from hair ties to shoe laces, but I wear one of the stretchy brightly colored bands on my wrist as an added pop of color.  They’re even cute enough that me and my best friend wear the same one as more modern friendship bracelet.

Sunny days

I have been eyeing these Warby Parker Griffin sunglasses for awhile now and after seeing them in person this weekend in Colorado I have to have them! On top of being super chic, vintage looking and menswear inspired, the Warby Parker buy a pair give a pair idea is amazing plus I love the color of the blonde tortoise frames! With the addition of the price being great and sunglasses being something I wear nearly every single day, this seems like a great mid-summer gift for myself.

(Yes, this is how I convince myself what I should and should not buy!)

Roll the Dyce

I finally got my Dyce watch, a line of watches created by a friend of mine, after a very very long wait! When my favorite big gold Swatch died awhile back I had been on the look out for a watch that makes a statement but that I could still wear with everything. The white and gold Muse is fits the bill and is especially perfect for summer — light, white and shiny. The added plus, even on my tiny wrist the watch isn’t too big and has enough holes in the band to get the perfect fit.

Bag lady

I have been lusting over bags lately and finally narrowed in on my summer lust, the Mullberry Piccadilly leather weekend bag. It’s oversized in the all the right ways, can easily stow my laptop and iPad for busy work days and is the perfect size for weekends getaways (which I am known to over pack for). Plus, the oak leather looks rich enough to eat!

Carryall

I have a new project that requires me to bring my laptop with around with me. While I used to just throw it in a big tote I love the idea of my laptop as an accessory instead of an item to stow away. This French and English Confectionier’s patent buckled case is gorgeous and the neutral colors mean I could bring it with me wherever I go!
