Yup, that’s my brother

I’m always a few days behind on hearing about these things and/or watching them but here you go, thanks Adweek. Isn’t he just the cutest thing you’ve ever seen?! Nicely done brother and the whole Percolate team.

Santa chaos

via urbansetting

Now that Thanksgiving is over the Christmas season is officially underway. Which means SantaCon, the first official Christmastime celebration, is coming up. If you’ve never been and want to see hundreds of santas turn from jolly to jollier to drop dead drunk you should definitely join the party! (If you’ve never been and you don’t like crowds it’s not going to be your cup of tea and you should probably sit this one out.) This year I decided to switch up the ever common santa hat for a toy/wooden solider costume complete with big hat and black boots and red cheeks! Pictures to follow.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Peas and thank you

via etsy

It’s hard to believe that tomorrow is Thanksgiving and the holidays, and New Years Eve, are just around the corner. This year has been an absolute whirlwind! There’s been a lot of good, some bad and a whole lot of fun.

I have a lot to be thankful for but it’s the special people in my life that really mean the most. Thank you to all of you, you know who you are, for sharing in my triumphs and supporting me during my trials and tribulations. You are all amazing and I am so grateful to have such wonderful, loving and giving people in my life. You have to admit, it may not be easy but it’s always interesting!

To tree or not to tree

via shelterness

As is the case nearly every year (and with most Jews), I am starting to feel like I can’t resist the urge to get a Christmas tree. I have always wanted a tree but something has always stopped me from just biting the bullet and buying one. I think this year may be different…I know exactly where I would put it and exactly how I would decorate it (obviously all white, clean, crisp, simple and elegant). But then I found this white tree while researching and I have to admit I think it’s beautiful. Decisions, decisions!

Happy friday

If I do nothing but change from one set of pjs to the next while watching movies all weekend I would be a very very very happy girl. I see some kind of serious movie marathon in my future and lots of hot chocolate and popcorn. Have a quiet weekend!

It’s breakfast time

Could this look any more delicious? I’m not usually a waffle, french toast or pancake kind of girl but these look like the perfect snow day treat. Looks like I may be asking for a waffle iron for Hanukkah!!

(thanks for the new website Joanna!)

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
3 eggs, beaten
4 tablespoons butter, melted
2 cups buttermilk, room temperature

Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer’s directions.

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, sugars and spices. In another bowl beat together the eggs and melted butter, then add the buttermilk. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and stir until combined. Allow to rest for 5 minutes.

Ladle the recommended amount of waffle batter onto the iron according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Close iron top and cook until the waffle is golden on both sides and is easily removed from iron.

The winter hues

via essie

As adventurous as I’d like to say I am, I have a few colors of nail polish in my arsenal and I rotate them throughout the year. Lighter colors in the spring and summer and dark, rich colors for the fall and winter. One of my favorites is Essie Bordeaux. The deep red has enough color that I feel festive but it’s also perfectly suited for the overcast winter days.

Top that

I am totally a hat person any time of year but winter hats are not only a statement but an essential during New York City winters. Instead of your run of the mill beanies and berets, I really like the idea of these more classic fedoras and dunaway hats. Especially this one from Urban Outfitters, which is going to be on it’s way to my house very soon!

Happy friday

It has been an absolutely insane week and it just now dawned on me that it’s Friday…whoops! I always say I’ll relax but I am sure that won’t happen this weekend, but at least I can sleep in a littler later! Have a laid back weekend.
