I’ve decided to go on an impromptu trip to Bear Mountain, just outside of New York City, tomorrow for a day of fun in the sun and the great outdoors. I think spending last weekend in beautiful Colorado inspired me to soak up as much time outside as possible. Have an adventurous weekend!

If Mrs. Lillien wasn’t cool enough already, now she’s adding facial scrub and pasta recipes to her repertoire. I love this blog for the incredible design elements and how they are perfectly matched with such an amazing sense of style. And throw in tips on travel destinations, cocktails and summer activities it’s basically a one stop shop for all things fabulous!
PS: This simple pasta recipe looks easy enough for me to make, and definitely delicious enough for me to eat:
2 boxes quinoa pasta cooked til al dente, then drained
the juice and zest of 2 fresh lemons
1/3 cup good olive oil
1/2 cup fresh basil chopped
1/2 cup fresh flat leaf parsley chopped
6 oz fresh mozzarella pieces
coarse salt and pepper to taste
add all ingredients to a large pasta bowl, toss + enjoy!

I have been eyeing these Warby Parker Griffin sunglasses for awhile now and after seeing them in person this weekend in Colorado I have to have them! On top of being super chic, vintage looking and menswear inspired, the Warby Parker buy a pair give a pair idea is amazing plus I love the color of the blonde tortoise frames! With the addition of the price being great and sunglasses being something I wear nearly every single day, this seems like a great mid-summer gift for myself.
(Yes, this is how I convince myself what I should and should not buy!)

I’m off to Breckenridge, Colorado to celebrate the marriage of two people I love very much. I’m so excited to get away, to see the dress, to eat some cake and to maybe even do a little dancing. Ahh, I love weddings! Have a lovely weekend!

I’m heading to Colorado for the weekend for my friend’s wedding and while I’m packing I’m realizing how much stuff I have but how little of it I actually wear, and even like for that matter. One major gap in my wardrobe is white pieces. I have a topshop burnout tee that I love and a few other crisp white pieces but overall it’s sorely lacking and it shouldn’t be because I think I look good in white no matter how pale and pasty I get in the winter. (I also love white like this, paired with simple jewelry and killer nail polish!)

I’m not sure where I initially stumbled upon photos by Mary Ellen Bartley but her new collection Standing Open is gorgeous and leaves me staring and my mind wandering. It’s a simple concept with flawless execution that creates an image that you can’t take your eyes off of. I also love that each piece is titled with the title of the book that is photographed.

I never thought I would jump on the spiked shoe bandwagon until I ran into these Sam Edelman Adena loafers and bought these Lorelai sandals for the wedding I’m going to this weekend. They are both so much fun but not so over the top that they’re unwearable. Ok, the loafers may be a bit over the top but they’d work perfectly with any simple little dress or jeans and a tee (this is how I convince myself something is a reasonable purchase). As for the nude sandals they couldn’t look cuter with my dress and they add just the right amount of flare. Plus, no jewelry required when wearing these puppies!

Most people have this secret compartment in their stomachs where they can always find the room to scarf down a little dessert — I seem to have that same compartment but mine is specifically for guacamole! (But I probably have the dessert one as well). And because I have finally figured out that I can make my own guac when the hankering strikes me (using a take on this recipe), I’m dying to buy this molcajete that all my favorite restaurants serve their’s in.

Brunch is obviously on the agenda for some point(s) this weekend but I could also see spending the majority of the weekend wandering between bars and bistros to enjoy some outdoor seating and a few drinks. I’ll be sticking to cold beer and rosé wine if the humidity keeps up. Have a wonderful weekend!

Much like Grace from Design*Sponge, I love adding a ‘y’ to the end of words when I need to describe something simply and accurately, chocolate-y, hipster-y and designer-y. And also like Grace I love the new line of temporary tattoos designed by swissmiss, Tattly. They’re simple, quirky and just trendy enough that you’ll be ready for a new one by the time your first tattoo fades. My favorites are the tiny microphone Speak Up and the Instant Camera.
