In the last year or so I stopped making my bed with a flat sheet.
1. I use a quilt and duvet so you technically don’t need a sheet.
2. I get hot at night and never need the extra layer. Especially my feet so I like when i can have them stick out
3. It always comes untucked and therefore extends the amount of time needed to make the bed in the morning.
But recently I got to thinking that there has to be a better way, for those people who don’t have my first 2 issues but still want a quick and easy bed making experience. So I thought, why can’t a flat sheet be manufactured with an added layer, just at the bottom, that has the same elastic edge as a fitted sheet? Brilliant, I know! Just wait fitted flat sheets will be all the rage soon enough! Consider the idea patent pending!

I have been lusting over turbans lately. I have been seeing a lot of turbands lately (like this and this and here’s how The Man Repeller ties one) but I think as the weather gets colder a full turban is the way to go. And this turban Leilanni Land Etsy store is the one I want. Consider it officially added to my holiday wish list!

It’s the weekend! And nothing says it better than a good brunch. Go out and eat it up! I know I will.

I went to BG, one of the restaurants at Bergdorf Goodman, yesterday with my mom and a family friend and really enjoyed myself. While the food was good (not worth $30+/entree) the Kelly Wearstler design was out of this world and made the whole experience worthwhile. I love Kelly’s use of color and texture, whimsy and sophistication. I think a trip to the Viceroy needs to be planned soon — for research purposes?!

T-minus 26 days until I am in London. My favorite city, staying at the fabulous Chancery Court Hotel and spending a week walking, reliving and relaxing! Woohoo!

I decided a while back that I always slept better when I was properly dressed for bed. Not just sweats and a tshirts, but a proper set of pjs or pants specifically designated as lounge wear. Recently I stumbled upon this great oversized sleep shirt and I absolutely love it. Pair it with a pair of thick knit knee socks (these are one of my favorites currently) and bed time never felt so cozy!

Taking a nod from John and Yoko, I’ve been staging a bed-in the past couple of days. The catalyst — simply a combination of being sick, cold temps for early fall and a brand new tufted duvet cover. It’s a tough job but somebody’s got to do it!
Have a great weekend. Enjoy the weather, the city and the ones you love!

Mimi Jung, founder of Brook&Lyn, just launched her newest Surrounded collections. All of her stuff is meticulously made and beautifully designed and I just love the look of the more ornate pieces with a really simple tight jersey dress. I’ll definitely be adding a few pieces to my holiday/birthday lists. Also while you’re over at the Brook&Lyn site, check out the fabulous vintage accessories, they’re incredibly inexpensive but elegant and timeless!

I went to Puerto Rico for my first time on my 20th birthday, 5 years later I am going back to celebrate my 25th and I think I need to go and pack this great J. Crew bathing suit. The high waist will hide the little holiday tummy that may still be showing in January and the top has just the right amount of coverage to be appropriate and perfect for sunbathing.
