Polly want a cracker?

I have been seeking the perfect double finger ring for months now and I have finally found it! This amazing Parrot from Forever 21 fits my middle and ring finger perfectly and has been great inspiration for new nail polish choices. My new favorites are Red My Fortune Cookie, Green-Wich Village, Need Sunglasses OPI.

My dance can kick your song’s ass!

I don’t know about you but I am a huge fan of the show So You Think You Can Dance. The way I defend my watching this silly FOX reality/competition show is that the show is actually showing talented dancers in routines that are completely and totally out of their comfort zone.

When a singer sings on American Idol they not only get to choose almost all of their songs, but singing is singing. They aren’t going from pop to opera, they are going from 70′s pop to a more contemporary pop song. While it takes talent to sing, the competition doesn’t bring any real challenges into the mix.

So You Think You Can Dance is completely the opposite. These dancers all have a specialty  (hip-hop, contemporary, ballroom) and then they are given a few days to master a completely different style. Unlike singing, these dancers may have never taken a step in the direction of the style they are being asked to perform in and that to me makes it a real competition.

So, basically I just wanted to give my 2 sense! There was no real point other than that but to tell you how good the show is and that if you haven’t seen it yet you really should! So You Think You Can Watch!?

Ode to the fist pump

Who knew that this day would come? It seems that today is the day when all our jokes and judgments about the garden state are being put aside in order to truly enjoy the majesty that is Jersey and her residents.

The Jersey Shore, Real Housewives of New Jersey, Jerseylicious and Jersey Couture – the holy grail of reality TV! These shows seem to have once and for all brought Americans together in celebration of the armpit of of our great country.

These shows may be trashy, ridiculously over the top and sometimes down right embarrassing, but it doesn’t matter because we are all still watching them. Sitting in front of our TV’s in awe of the absurdity of these fist pumping, blow-out rocking Jersey-ites.

I’m a fan, are you?

Blogs I love

I decided that if I’m sharing weekly religious figures I should start highlighting blogs that I love to read. I read those blogs on a daily basis and am constantly linking to them because of their amazing writing and photos.

I actually found Katie’s amazing blog after she commented here on leahbrier.com and ever since I have been a daily visitor to her vintage-inspired blog The Neo-Traditionalist. Not to mention her shop is out of this world.

What I love most about Katie’s blog, other than her adorable pug Alfred (who has an open invitation to play with Willamina) is what her blog stands for. It’s more than just quotes of the day and amazing vintage finds, Katie has actually written a manifesto for her blog; she believes in everything from being optimistic to being granny chic and who doesn’t love that?! Also, at the beginning of 2010 Katie and Lilly Warren from Lox Paper started Plucky Pioneers to spotlight women in design. I think women supporting other women is a really noble thing — and is a lot of the reason I started sharing blogs I love.

All and all Katie’s site has such a strong voice and life to it that I can’t imagine not coming back day after day. That, and following her on her journey to the alter (Katie is getting married in a few weeks) is just too good to miss! Maybe one day I will join The Neo-Traditionalist team….ahh a girl can dream!

Thank The Claw it’s Friday

Buzz: This is an intergalactic emergency. I need to commandeer your vessel to Sector 12. Who’s in charge here?
All Aliens: [pointing up] The Claw!
Alien #1: The Claw is our master.
Alien #2: The Claw chooses who will go and who will stay.
Woody: This is ludicrous.

I’ll take it!

How could you go wrong with patterned chairs, antlers and a fireplace?! This place has the perfect amount of flair and style combined with old world touches and architectural elements. It’s a film shoot location, but I would be more than happy to take it off their hands and live there full time!

I decided that if I’m sharing weekly religious figures I should start highlighting blogs that I love to read. I read those blogs on a daily basis and am constantly linking to them because of their amazing writing and photos.

I can’t quite remember how I found Emily’s blog, Cupcakes and Cashmere, but since being introduced to it I have become borderline obsessed.

Emily shares everything on her blog. She has galleries of each months’ outfits, recipes, how-to guides for just about everything (thank god she showed me how to do beachy waves, because before figuring how to use the curling my hair was a hot mess), design ideas and her favorite spots in LA.

I think it’s my jealously of her fabulous life, and her new Coach bag, that makes me come back day after day! But I also love all the interaction Emily has with her readers. Tons of people comment on her posts and Emily always responds. I think the marker of a truly successful blog is a when there is a real sense of dialogue between writer and reader — and Emily has that in spades!
