Last night, when I had taken enough sleeping pills to take a horse down, I was laying awake in bed munching on Chex Mix. This is a terrible habit, lecture unneeded, problem admitted. Moving forward.
This bag of
General Mills‘
Chex Mix really had me thinking. Clearly the star of the mix are the Chex cereal pieces. They are great, and super salty in the ‘Traditional’ flavor bag (the only kind ill eat). But someone, for god’s sake, please explain to me why the pretzels get second highest billing? The always taste stale, they have no salt and there are actually 2 varieties of pretzels in the bag (the’ o’s’ and the ‘windows’ as I like to call them).
Here is why I am so upset. There is a clear dark horse in this snack grab bag and I just don’t feel the delightful bagel chips (b.c. to make things easier) get the respect they deserve. Yes, there are two varieties of b.c, the pumpernickel and the plain, but still the ratio of b.c. to anything else in the bag is sadly low.
Then it struck me. If
Post can be smart enough to find the best part of their cereal
Honey Bunches of Oats, which is clearly the bunches, and make a cereal dedicated simply to their own deliciousness called
Just Bunches, why can’t Chex Mix do the same for the b.c.’s? They make boxes of just Chex cereal and someone makes both pretzels o’s and pretzel windows. I think it is time for the b.c., specifically the mini variety from the Chex Mix family, to get it’s chance to shine!
Call me General Mills!
We used to play “good and bad” at the dinner table when i was younger (young enough that we had at least a few dinners a week when everyone was home at the same time and able to sit together). Good and bad was when each person had to say one good thing and one bad thing about their day. I didn’t appreciate it then, but now I think there is really something to this idea. I am on a new journey to try and stay present and self-aware and I think there is a mindfulness that is needed to be able to determine the best and worst parts of the day.
I could definitely see to filling up these journals with my “good and bad” thoughts!
This has been free floating in my head for years, and now I am ready to share it with the world.
Procter & Gamble needs to jump on the Olympics support bandwagon and create a brilliant ad/TV campaign around the most beloved sport of the winter games, CURLING!
Those ladies and gentlemen sweep their little hearts out on that ice, why not use it as an opportunity to showcase the amazing cleaning power of one of my all time favorite household cleaning products, the Swiffer?!
Call me P&G!

There has been a considerable lack of posts because I haven’t been feeling like myself lately and am trying to find the root cause. Don’t worry, I have been drafting some posts on my blackberry from bed, and will be back up and posting as soon as I get myself in order!

Above are are some recent purchases that I made while suffering a terrible cold but muscled through in order to enjoy my time with a friend visiting from LA last weekend.
I am starting to notice how difficult it is to stick with two rules I have set for myself: wear high heels and avoid real pants – at all costs. The items above all fit the bill and will perfectly bring my wardrobe from winter to spring, which I decided to start early because I am so over the cold weather!

While I was registering my new Kindle, that the lovely Noah and Leila gave me for my birthday, I was struck by two simple but profound thoughts:
If you want to be a better writer — you have to read.
If you want to be a better reader — you have to read.
There aren’t many things that have obvious benefits with basically no risk, and I like how that works out.
I was never a big reader when I was younger. I just couldn’t find the right voices to carry me through whole books. As I’ve gotten older I’ve found more time to read and work though that problem. Reading is still an ebbing and flowing desire for me, and depends highly on finding the right book, but it is something I look to as an adventure and would like to continue using as an escape. In mentioning I wanted a Kindle (way back in December), I was hoping it would help increase my interest and stamina for reading. I know I may still face issues, and finding good books can be a challenge, but having multiple books at my finger tips at all times is a good start.
I have had to defend why I prefer reading multiple books at one time, and I thought I would share some of my points:
- I am easily distracted and bored, especially during the lulls that many books have. Reading more than one book at a time gives me the opportunity to read something new when I need a break from one book, while still holding my place in the first book so I can pick it back up when I feel so inclined.
- I love when I find the single point in the time-space continuum where my multiple trains of thought cross each others’ tracks. There is nothing like that moment when you understand something new and that is only made better when you can cite a reference and/or cross-reference the sources of those insights!
It’s my birthday and I can’t sleep — story of my life! Call me crazy, but this seemed like the perfect time to do what I had to do — read my horoscope. The scary part? Some of it really resonates me and sounds like me, while some is complete hooey. Who cares though, this is what birthdays are about!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY also goes out to my brother from another mother
Jeff Hughes, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Patrick Dempsey, Orlando Bloom and
Connie Lui‘s brother!

Your astrological combination indicates a quiet, undemonstrative individual. You are retiring by nature and prefer domestic activities. A somewhat passive person, you require a stronger force or person to move you out of your state of psychological inertia. Much about you is concentrated and inner-directed.
You seek integrity of self. You make a good friend and confidant, for you never reveal a secret that has been told to you. But you don’t allow friends and associates to penetrate beneath your outermost mask. You deal well with people in unfortunate positions, because they arouse the compassion inherent in your Moon influence. Under favorable circumstances, your psychic and mystic tendencies could be awakened. The key to a more harmonious existence lies in using your organizing ability to establish a more active life. You possess a high degree of innate ambition and perseverance.
